IMPORTANT CALENDAR DATES

Sept 5 - Spirit Day

Sept 15 &16 - Picture Retake Day (see schedule below)

KINDIEPREP HOURS AND CARPOOL - UPDATES

The KindiePrep school day hours are from 8:30am to 3:00pm.  It is important for your child to be at school on time.  Students arriving at school on time have the advantage of settling in, preparing their class materials, and focusing their minds on the day to come.

In the afternoon families have from 3:00pm to 3:15pm to pick up their children, unless they are signed up for extra-care.  If children are not picked up by 3:15pm they will be put in extra-care and you will be charged $18.00 for their care plus a $25 late fee.  We will also call to inquire about your pick-up plan. (Extracare is not a drop-in service. Families must sign their children up to attend extracare.)

*Carpool Reminders*

  • If you do not have a child in the K-8 or you’re not using before care please refrain from coming to school until 8:15am.
  • You cannot be parked in the VIP spots after 3:15pm
  • No left turns out of the parking lot during carpool

CONTINUED SEPARATION ANXIETY AT DROP OFF

The first days of school can be exciting, fun, overwhelming, scary, and the list goes on for students and their parents, and those emotions can change every day for the first couple of weeks.  Your student might have had a super easy drop off the first week, and you’re thinking “Man, that was awesome!”. Well, this week could be completely different as they start to realize this is their new normal.  We want you to know that these emotions and behaviors are normal and we have seen it all. Your sweet angel will test you some days, but we are here to help.

All that said, there are a few things you can do to help your student and their teacher.  Please make drop-off quick and easy in the morning.  Creating a routine is best; for example, together, you and your child, come in, put snacks in the buckets, put the blue bag in the cubby, give your child their water bottle, a hug and a kiss at the classroom door, and tell them to have a great day and you will see them after school.  Having a set routine helps children know what is coming next which helps them feel more in control. If they are having difficulty that morning, their teacher will be happy to help them settle into the classroom.

If your child is having severe separation anxiety, and you would like more information please reach out to me.  I am happy to talk with you and give you some information on the topic.

SIGNING YOUR CHILD IN-AND-OUT DAILY & LUNCH NEEDS

You must sign your student in at drop-off and out at pick-up! This is super important for many reasons.  This is how we find out if your child does or does not need hot lunch each day.  The state also requires that we maintain attendance records. Most importantly, it's for safety!  We need to know who is in attendance so if something happens we know exactly who is here, where to find them, and who to contact.  Also, all the QR codes located throughout the school  are the same, so you can utilize any of them, or you can use the kiosk/iPad with your PIN number at the front desk.

PICTURE RETAKES

If your family missed Rebel, Set, Go! There is another day to get your students' pictures taken depending on when they attend KP. If your child attends 3 days a week they will get their pictures taken on Sept 15th. If your child attends 2 days or 5 days a week they will get their pictures taken on Sept 16th.

DRESS CODE AND SPIRIT DAY ATTIRE

Most students were dressed in proper dress code attire last week.  I will give families this week to get proper dress code attire.  Next week, I will start sending emails if your child is not in the correct dress code attire. However, Friday's are Spirit Gear Days here at AA and in KindiePrep. This means the children need to wear their navy-blue bottoms, but they can wear an American Academy spirit shirt. These shirts can be found in the Spirit Gear Store or they can be t-shirts the children receive from the school for special events like 20 year celebrations or Field Day! The last Friday of every month is a Dress of Choice day which means the children have the option to wear any school appropriate outfit. (See Dress Code Policy) All other Friday’s are Spirit days.

SUNSCREEN

Still missing some sunscreens for students! If you signed the sunscreen document saying you wanted the teachers to reapply sunscreen please make sure you bring in the sunscreen labeled with your students first and last name.  If possible, the stick sunscreens work really well and are way easier for your child and the teacher.  Getting sunscreen on 12 students is time consuming.  If you opted to not have us reapply you, have no further duties pertaining to sunscreen.

SCHOOL LUNCH

If you are sending your child to school with lunch please make sure you’re sending a protein, fruit and/or veggie, and healthy carbs to fill them up. The state requires us to provide them with these items if they are not bringing them from home.

FROM THE PTO: STOCK THE FRIDGE

The PTO does a wonderful job of spoiling the teachers.  One of the things they do is accept donations of snacks for the teachers so they can keep up with children throughout the day. They have asked me to share the sign-up; therefore, if you would like to donate here is the link to sign up to bring certain items STOCK THE FRIDGE SIGN-UP . There will be a new sign-up for each month.  If you choose to donate, please bring the items to the KindiePrep front office to drop off. Finally, please know how greatly appreciated these donations are to the teachers and staff. A kick of caffeine or a bag of Doritos can go a long way to keep the energy level up.

The PTO also plans a ton of fun events for families. Hopefully, you are receiving their newsletter, but if not you can visit their webpage.  PTO Motsenbocker
