PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE

REMINDER -Our first parent teacher conference of the year will be TONIGHT< September 30th and TOMORROW October 1st. This is a great time to meet and discuss successes and concerns about your child. We encourage all families to try and attend.

NO SCHOOL - OCTOBER 2nd and OCTOBER 12 - 16TH

FUN FEST - PTO FUNDRAISER

Today is the Kickoff for the Fall Fundraiser the PTO hosts. For more information please go the the PTO FUN FEST page. The KindiePrep students do participate, and the event is on October 9th. Our KP students will run at 9:30am. PTO event information can be located on their webpage - PTO MB.

NOTES ABOUT - FOOD AT SCHOOL

We would appreciate your help with keeping snack and lunch routines manageable for everyone. We have noticed that the amount of food some children are bringing to school is becoming a bit challenging during our limited meal and snack times.

Snacks: Please pack one or two snacks for your child each day. Snack time is a short break in our day and is intended to be a small snack rather than a full meal. Choosing appropriately sized portions helps us keep the routine running smoothly.

Lunch: We encourage all children to eat their lunch and provide them with the time and encouragement to do so. However, we do not force children to finish their food. If a child lets us know they are full, we allow them to clean up and move on with their day. For this reason, please pack an appropriate amount of food that your child can reasonably eat during our scheduled lunch time. Thank you for partnering with us to help make mealtimes positive, manageable, and enjoyable for all of our children!

ALLERGIES - LET US KNOW ASAP

If your child is allergic to any food items or other things they may be exposed to in the classroom please let us know ASAP. We take allergies very serious and will always do our best to keep your child safe; however, if we are unaware of the allergy then we can't do our job properly. An allergy is a legitimate health diagnosis, not a family/child preference. If you prefer your child not have eggs, milk, nuts, etc. we respect that decision and please let us know we will still do our best to abide by that request; however, that is different from an allergy.

DELAYED START OCTOBER 27th

There is a 1 hour delayed start for KindiePrep on October 27th. We will not have beforecare that day, and the doors for dropoff will open at 9:15am. The school day will start at 9:30am. CLASS PICTURES

Class pictures will be taken on Oct 28th for the 3 & 5 full day students. The 2 day students will have their class pictures taken on Oct 29th. The 29th is also Halloween party day for the 2 day class. We ask that you send your child to school in the normal dress code attire and bring their costume to change into later that day.

FALL/HALLOWEEN PARTIES

Class parties will be on October 29th and 30th. The 2 day a week students will have their party on Thursday 10/29, and the 3 & 5 day a week students will have their party on Friday 10/30 both from 1:45 - 2:45pm. We will have a costume parade to kick off the party. Teachers and/or room parents will be sharing more information in the coming weeks.

IMPORTANT REMINDER - SIGNING STUDENTS IN AND OUT AND MARKING LUNCH

It is really important that you sign your child in and out everyday! Signing in is important so we know who is at school and so we know who’s ordering hot lunch.  We don’t know if your child needs lunch unless you sign them in each day. (Sidenote - School lunch comes with milk.  If you packed a lunch and want them to have milk, please just mark milk only.) Signing your child out is important so we know who picked your child up, even if they attend aftercare, and please acknowledge the staff in aftercare before leaving with your child.

IMPORTANT REMINDER - GETTING TO SCHOOL ON TIME

PLEASE get your child to school on time. We are a school NOT a daycare, and the school day starts at 8:30am. It is extremely disruptive to the other students and the teacher when students continually roll in late to class. Your child also misses the morning work that is important for their fine motor and cognitive education. As your children get older, they will have to be in their seats by 8:05am, so set them up for success with a good, consistent morning routine.

CARPOOL PROTOCOLS - NO PARKING IN THE VIP ARE AFTER 3:15pm

It is so important that you follow all the carpool protocols to keep it running smoothly. The spots located on the curve are designated VIP spots after 3:15pm, so dont part there if you can't get your student and be back in your car by 3:15pm.

FROM THE PTO: STOCK THE FRIDGE

The PTO does a wonderful job of spoiling the teachers.  One of the things they do is accept donations of snacks for the teachers so they can keep up with children throughout the day. They have asked me to share the sign-up; therefore, if you would like to donate here is the link to sign up to bring certain items STOCK THE FRIDGE SIGN-UP . There will be a new sign-up for each month.  If you choose to donate, please bring the items to the KindiePrep front office to drop off. Finally, please know how greatly appreciated these donations are to the teachers and staff. A kick of caffeine or a bag of Doritos can go a long way to keep the energy level up.

REMINDERS

KINDIEPREP HOURS

The KindiePrep school day hours are from 8:30am to 3:00pm.  It is important for your child to be at school on time.  Students arriving at school on time have the advantage of settling in, preparing their class materials, and focusing their minds on the day to come. Being late can also cause children to miss important information for the day.  The doors to KindiePrep open at 8:15am giving families 15 minutes to get their student signed in and settled for the day.  

In the afternoon families have from 3:00pm to 3:15pm to pick up their children, unless they are signed up for extra-care.  If children are not picked up by 3:15pm they will be put in extra-care and you will be charged $18.00 for their care plus a $25 late fee.  We will also call to inquire about your pick-up plan. (Extracare is not a drop-in service. Families must sign their children up to attend extra-care.)

EXTRACARE

We offer a before and after school program for those families that need more care than 8:30am to 3:00pm each day.  Our morning program runs from 7:00am – 8:15am, and our aftercare program runs from 3:15pm – 5:30pm.  If you would like to utilize this program you will need to fill out a calendar each month and turn it in to Assistant Director Laura Starrett. Calendars can be found in the KP front office. FYI, we do have limited space, so extra-care will be filled on a first come first serve basis. (5 full day families that purchased the package deal do not need to fill out a calendar, and those students are first on the list.)

HEALTH APPRAISALS AND SHOT RECORDS

We are required by the CDEC to maintain an up-to-date health appraisal and shot record for each child.  Please make sure to get an updated appraisal at your child’s next appointment and bring it to or email it to Laura Starrett. Laura does send out reminders before it is due, so if you get one of those it’s time to make an appointment. (A picture of the document does not work.  We need a scanned/hard copy.)

KINDIEPREP DRESS CODE 

If you have questions about the dress code please review the KindiePrep Dress Code Policy. We will be checking for dress code compliance, and you will be notified if your child is out of compliance. The last Friday of every month is a Dress of Choice day which means the children have the option to wear any school appropriate outfit. (See Dress Code Policy) All other Fridays are Spirit days.  This means the children need to wear their navy-blue bottoms, but they can wear an American Academy spirit shirt. These shirts can be found in the Spirit Gear Store or they can be t-shirts the children receive from the school for special events like Fun Run, Field Day, 20th Celebrations, etc.

RECORDINGS AND PHOTOS

I know many of you want to take pictures and videos of your students at school. We all want those memories; however, when taking pictures please make sure you are not getting other students in them, and we ask you to refrain from recording videos in the classroom.  Some students' families have asked that they have limited to no media exposure, and we can’t verify where those videos will end up.

FOOD AT SCHOOL

I always like to remind families about our Food at School policy at the beginning of the school year.  We have these rules in place for the health and safety of our students. 

• NO FOOD BIRTHDAY TREATS allowed at school.
  Other non-food treats are welcome, per teacher discretion! This is not a change from last year, just a continuation of what you’ve already been doing. We know kiddos love birthday sweets but it just gets to be too much sugar at school with so many birthdays to celebrate year-round. 
• NUTS IN THE CLASSROOM
  This is always a concern.  We are not a nut free facility; however, we do take precautions.  If your child is in a classroom with a student that has severe allergies we will restrict nuts in that classroom.  Your teachers will let you know if this is the case in your child’s room.  
• FOOD IS OK for classroom parties and classroom learning events.
  You can bring in food items to eat as well as food items for crafts and games. However, we ask that parents work with teachers to ensure that any food allergy concerns are addressed in the planning process. We want to be sure ALL students can participate in the fun safely.
