Hello KP Families,
What a fantastic first week of school we had! It has been so wonderful getting to know each of your children. Everyone is beginning to learn our classroom routines, make new friends, and show me all of the amazing things they already know. I am so excited for the year ahead and feel very lucky to be spending it with your children!
For the first couple of weeks, we are focusing on social-emotional learning. We are learning what it means to be a good friend, how to talk through problems and frustrations, and how to recognize and share our emotions with one another. Building these skills and creating a kind, safe classroom community is such an important part of starting the school year.
We will also begin our Beginning-of-the-Year Evaluations soon. These evaluations will help me know where each child is academically so that I can best support their individual learning needs. From there, we will begin diving into our literacy and math lessons.
Our CKLA curriculum will officially begin during Week 3, on September 8th. I can't wait to get started!
Red Folders went home with each student on Friday. Please take a moment to look through them!
This week, your child will bring home a special "All About Me" banner to complete with you. Not only does this give us an opportunity to learn more about your child and the things that make them special, but it also gives them practice talking about themselves and sharing with their classmates. Our first unit is titled "All About Me," so this is the perfect way to kick things off!
Please return the completed banner to school by next Friday.
Also, please remember to return the red folders to school each Monday. We will continue filling them up throughout the year with lots of amazing work and special projects!
Thursday, September 3rd | 5:00–6:00 PM
We would love for our parents to join us for an informative evening! We will talk about our classroom routines, curriculum, what you can expect throughout the year, and answer any questions you may have.
Warmly,
Melissa Meyer
